広い概念のデザインのうち、人間の視聴覚、五感に触れ、触発され、計画行為によって表出されるクリエイティブな分野を軸に、環境、エネルギー問題にまでの視野を持つNPO法人のデザイン団体。主に認知、広報の分野で活動。2002年の創立時より理事長をつとめる。

インダストリアルが工業や産業と訳されるように、車、電機製品を中心とした分野で、高度成長期の日本を支えてきた。現在はデザイン概念の拡大に沿って、マルチ・クリエイティブな理念によって、引き続き日本の産業と文化を引っ張る役割を実践中。関連諸団体を束ねて「D8」という略称での活動もある。 2012年に設立60周年を迎えた。1999〜2004の間、理事長を務める。

1987年に丹下健三らによって、規模拡大を狙って旧組織を改めた。「建築士」であるより、まず「建築家」であることを願いの第一義とする建築設計者が多いと望まれる公益社団法人。1987年より正会員。
After the long history, the system were renewed by Kenzo Tange and his supports under the scope of reinforcement of amount the members. After all, this association actually became the mixture of the ability. Now we are trying to be an "Architect" not to be an "Achitectual engineer or mere businessman". Official member from 1987.

地域に密着した教化活動を行う目的の日本建築家協会関東甲信越支部における地域会のひとつ。「日本の街はなぜ美しくないのか」を、ここ数年のメイン・シリーズにしている。2010〜2012、代表を務める。
A regional organization of JIA for the activity close to citizens. "Minato" is a central ward(division) of Tokyo. We are still working by seminars on the title of "Why the towns of Japan are not beautiful?" Leader, from 2010 to 2012.
